I'm currently reading Aid State: Elite Panic, Disaster Capitalism, and the Battle to Control Haiti by Jake Johnston and How to Hide an Empire: A History of the Greater United States by Daniel Immerwahr. I've been taking notes while I've been reading these. Found them while looking for material while writing my essay for U.S History class. Went a little overboard with it but it was so interesting to research for and I have so much I want to read now.
I actually went to a market today with my friend. It was his booth. It was interesting being there, a slower day since apparently the local college was having graduation that day, but I had fun.

I had my first dig yesterday as part of my intro archaeo class and I had so much fun! I was in a group of four, split off from the other twelve students there, and we were being taught how to measure and open a new pit. We began digging and sifting the dirt and most of what we collected was quartz and chert, but we also found some glass, some metal nails, some pottery, some whiteware, two hat buckles, some coal, and a couple projectile points! One of which was still complete! It was made of andesite. My professor also had two kanppers on site to demonstrate and talk to us about knapping and how to identify worked stone. I got to sit down and try my hand at knapping as well, which was like a day at Disney to me. I won't say I knapped so much as hit a stone, but I tried and that's what counts!
Sure, I woke up this morning sore and still with a little dirt on me, but I had such an incredible experience. I'm already itching to do more, and if I hadn't slept in today, I probably would have shown back up today for the other half of the class's field time. I think I'm hooked. Really, I think I've found what I want to do with my life, and that's the most amazing feeling. If I could live the day again, I'd do it a hundred times and change absolutely nothing.

I've been making trips to a local place, a combination of a cafe and a used book shop. It's got good drinks, ambience, and reads, which makes it the perfect place for me to settle in and do some uninterrupted school work.
